In 1895, W.J. Mahaffy purchased the farm and starting a farming operation which has been carried on through four generations. W.J. Mahaffy had a diversified farming operation and pioneered many new techniques to the area.
In the early 1900's W.J. Mahaffy made the last cattle drive to the shipping pin in Bristol, Tennessee.
In 1945 the farming operation was passed on to Fannie Mahaffy and her husband Grady Harr. They carried on the diversified farming operation that her father had started. Along with beginning a dairy operation.
In 1979, the farm had the highest producing dairy herd for herds over 100 cows.
In 1981, the farm was operated by Robert (Bob) Harr. Like his grandfather before him he practiced techniques new to the area. In 1980-1981 Bob was awarded the "Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year" for his no-till practices. ![]()
In 1981, the horse operation began with a Christmas gift to the children.
In 1993, the dairy operation dispersed because of Highway 394 splitting the property.
In 1997 a beef herd was purchased and is still in operation today.
In 2001 - 2002 Grady Harr, Bob's Son won the State Farmer's Degree in the State of Tennessee.
Grady graduated from Tennessee Tech University in December of 2007 with a Major in Animal Science.
Grady began an all natural hormone free herd to produce beef for sale in 2007.
